The Willett Pot Still Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced using traditional column stills, although a small portion is distilled using a small pot still (shaped like the bottle, hence the name). This bourbon is aged between 8 to 10 years in new American oak barrels and bottled at 47% ABV (97 proof).
Although John David Willett was already the owner and Master Distiller of Moore (Willett & Frenke Distillery) and four other distilleries by the late 19th century, it wasn’t until 1936 that the Willett Distillery was constructed in Bardstown, Kentucky. In 1937, production began with the filling of the first barrel, and within just 23 years, the distillery had filled 100,000 barrels. The Willett Pot Still Reserve was released in 2008, and between 2009 and 2010, the distillery underwent a renovation process that led to the opening of its visitor center and refinement of some distillation processes.
