The distillery, built in 1949 by the famous architect Delmé Evans, is located in Blackford in Perthshire (Highlands). Production continued with ups and downs—mostly ups—until 1995, when the distillery was acquired by Whyte & Mackay, which, in an inexplicable decision driven by excess distillation capacity across all their distilleries, mothballed Tullibardine. The distillery became active again in 2003, and in 2011 was acquired by Picard Vins & Spiritueux.
The Tullibardine 15 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 15 years in first-fill ex-bourbon oak casks before being bottled at 43% ABV. This version is the first age-statement release entirely produced by the new owners.
