The Tomatin distillery is located in the village of the same name, about 25 minutes south of Inverness, in the Scottish Highlands. Founded in 1897 as Tomatin Spey Distillery Co Ltd, the distillery has undergone several phases of expansion and contraction over the years. In the 1970s, Tomatin was considered the largest malt distillery in Scotland, with a production capacity of 12.5 million liters per year, thanks to its 23 stills. However, in the mid-1980s, the number of stills was reduced to 12, bringing its current capacity to about half.
The Tomatin 12 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 12 years exclusively in seasoned ex-sherry casks before being bottled at a classic 40% ABV and at its natural color.

Aroma: The opening is surprisingly complex, intertwining notes of caramelized apple and pear, stewed fruit, and apricot, enriched by hints of raisin and a delicate touch of aged leather.
Taste: Initial notes of toffee, milk chocolate, and honey blend with dried fruit and baked apples, while a hint of ginger and spices adds vibrancy, accompanied by traces of aged wood, orange, and hazelnut.
Finish: The medium-length finish evolves into a pleasant spicy burst: cinnamon takes center stage alongside delicate notes of chocolate and orange, while tannic character and echoes of aged wood emerge elegantly with a light herbal hint.
