The distillery on the Isle of Harris is a young venture but deeply rooted in the history and culture of the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. Founded in 2015 in the village of Tarbert, it started with a team of only 10 employees, growing to employ over 50 people today on an island with fewer than 2,000 inhabitants. Thanks to its role as an economic and social engine, the distillery is also nicknamed “The Social Distillery”: its opening has generated jobs, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and tourism, while strengthening the community's connection to its traditions.
The Hearach Single Malt is a tribute to the people of Harris (the “Hearachs”) and represents the first official single malt ever produced on the island. This batch (number 06 23) was distilled using exclusively Concerto barley, with a medium level of peatiness at 13.3 ppm. It matured for at least 5 years in a selection of casks, distributed as follows: 21% ex-bourbon from Heaven Hill, 64% ex-bourbon from Buffalo Trace, 11% ex-sherry Oloroso, and 4% ex-sherry Fino.
The whisky was finally bottled at a strength of 46% vol., without cold filtration and in its natural color, for a total of 12,026 bottles.

Color: Amber gold.
Aroma: On the nose, we have initial notes of tropical fruit, pineapple, banana, sea breeze, lemon, malted barley, and a hint of peat smoke.
Taste: On the palate, it is less sweet than the nose, revealing more of its “coastal” nature—sea breeze, salt, salted caramel, green banana, some notes of toasted almond, and a touch of mineral smoke.
Finish: Of medium persistence, with notes of salted licorice, spiced oak, lemon, and a pinch of peat smoke.
