Glenfarclas Distillery is one of Scotland’s most iconic, renowned for its sherried style and its long-standing family ownership. Located in the heart of Speyside, near Ballindalloch, it remains one of the few independent distilleries, managed by the Grant family since 1865.
The Speyside 17 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for 17 years exclusively in a single ex-Oloroso sherry hogshead before being bottled in 2024 at its natural strength of 55.8% ABV, with no added color and non-chill filtered, in a total of 321 bottles.

Color: Deep amber.
Aroma: Surprisingly, despite its color, this isn’t a sherry monster. The nose is clean and refined, without being overpowering. It showcases Glenfarclas at its best: elegant and well-balanced, with notes of red fruits, cherry, dark chocolate, a hint of leather, marzipan, citrus zest, and a subtle touch of furniture wax.
Palate: While the nose suggests sweetness, the taste is not as sugary as one might expect—another hallmark of Glenfarclas. It has a good oiliness, with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, raisins, sherry, and a light nutty hint.
Finish: Long and pleasant, with notes of candied citrus, raisins, coffee, and chocolate, followed by a gentle black pepper spice that emerges at the end.
