Shinobu Distillery is located in Japan’s coastal Niigata region, on the country’s western coast. This area is renowned for its "Three White Treasures": snow, rice, and sake, cultivated for centuries.
Shinobu Pure Malt whiskies are crafted by master blender Mr. Usami Ken, who combines malts aged in sherry and bourbon casks before finishing them in precious Japanese Mizunara oak. Known for imparting rich, luscious fruity and spicy flavors, Mizunara oak has been used in Japan since the 1930s and is now highly sought after by whisky producers worldwide. SHINOBU Lightly Peated Pure Malt boasts a deep and robust body, with flavors of smoked and toasted oak. All SHINOBU whiskies are crafted without chill filtration or added color to preserve and enhance their complex and full-bodied character.
The Shinobu Pure Malt Lightly Peated is a blended whisky of undisclosed age, composed of single malt (some peated) and single grain whiskies aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before being finished in Mizunara oak. Finally, Shinobu is bottled at 43% ABV, unchill-filtered, and in its natural color.
