In recent years, Tobermory’s peated single malts have seen growing international demand. The distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland, has successfully established itself with its peated whiskies, marketed under the name Ledaig, earning a prominent place in the whisky world. Some even compare it to the new Ardbeg.
In our opinion, comparing two distilleries with such distinct styles isn’t entirely accurate, but what truly matters is quality—and Tobermory has plenty of it.
The Ledaig 18 Years Old is a peated single malt Scotch whisky aged for 18 years in a single ex-bourbon hogshead before being bottled at cask strength, 56.3% ABV, with no added color and non-chill filtered, in a total of 239 bottles.

Aroma: The nose welcomes us with Ledaig’s signature savory, almost tarry smoke, followed by smoked bacon, grilled lemon, smoked almonds, and a hint of sea breeze.
Palate: Lively and full-bodied, with well-presented peat smoke, savory notes, and a tangy lemon acidity. It then softens with caramel and crème brûlée, leaving a subtle balsamic note.
Finish: Long and persistent, clean and smoky, with notes of citrus, ginger, beach bonfire embers, and hints of grilled pineapple and vanilla.
