The legendary Islay distillery has been a cornerstone of Diageo's Special Releases, featured continuously since the very first edition in 2002. Each year, it showcases how cask strength and 12 years of aging perfectly complement the rich and dark peat of Lagavulin.
The Lagavulin 12 Years Old is a peated single malt Scotch whisky aged for 12 years in a mix of casks, comprising 70% first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and 30% refill casks, before being bottled at cask strength (57.4% vol.).

Aroma: The nose greets with notes of seaweed, grilled tropical fruits, lemon, and ash, with the smoke taking a backseat.
Taste: On the palate, it is lively. The peat is saltier and more prominent, with additional notes of brine, aromatic herbs, lemon, ash, and pineapple.
Finish: Long-lasting, with notes of black pepper, light vanilla, pineapple, and then the peat smoke of an extinguished beach bonfire.
