Knockdhu Distillery, located near the village of Knock in Aberdeenshire, was founded in 1893 by Distillers Company Ltd. (DCL). Its strategic location—close to a pure water source and a railway line—was chosen to facilitate whisky production and transportation. After several closures throughout the 20th century, the distillery reopened in 1989 under the ownership of Inver House Distillers. In 1993, the whisky was rebranded as AnCnoc to avoid confusion with Knockando, a distillery in Speyside.
The Knockdhu 18 Years Old is a peated single malt Scotch whisky aged for 18 years in a single ex-bourbon hogshead, before being bottled at cask strength (58.9% ABV), with no added color and non-chill filtered, in a limited release of just 179 bottles.

Color: Golden yellow.
Nose: A fascinating balance between sweetness and smokiness. Notes of ripe fruit, mandarins, and cream biscuits intertwine with hints of wood smoke, honey, and a light medicinal touch. Subtle undertones of lemon and caramel linger in the background.
Palate: The peat greets you immediately but remains balanced with sweetness—vanilla, barley malt, lemon, and ginger, complemented by buttery biscuits and a touch of sea salt.
Finish: Long and lingering, with persistent smoke and ash, followed by black tea, lemon zest, vanilla, and a subtle hint of fresh grass.
