The distillery is equipped with two handmade artisan stills called Christoir (1000 liters) and Broc (800 liters). Both stills are direct flame heated and use worm tube condensers. At Killowen, they believe that the shape, size, heat from the direct flame, and worm tube condensation help create a traditional spirit with a contemporary twist.
The Killowen Barántúil 3 Years Old is a slightly peated Irish whiskey made with a mash bill containing 70% malted and unmalted barley and 30% oats, wheat, and rye (a very traditional "Single Pot Still"). The peat used is local, and the fermentation lasts 10 days. This whiskey was distilled in August 2019 and aged for at least 3 years in a single 125-liter first-fill ex-bourbon cask before being bottled in March 2023 at its natural color and strength, 58.63% ABV, with a total of 239 bottles.
