While Japan has won numerous awards for its single malts, it has truly dominated the competition with its blended whiskies. Two names stand out: Hibiki by Suntory and Taketsuru by Nikka, which have been battling for the title of the world’s best blended whisky for years. The Japanese are masters of blending, consistently creating rich and well-balanced flavor profiles. After all, Japan has always been a perfect fusion of old and new, tradition and modernity—just like its blends.
The Kamiki Intense Wood is a blended malt whisky crafted from highly selected malt whiskies from Japan and some of the finest malt whiskies from around the world. After blending, the whisky is finished in Yoshino Sugi casks—Japanese cedar. Kamiki is the only whisky to undergo this unique maturation process, and the Intense Wood edition is aged even longer, resulting in more pronounced aromatic notes. Japanese cedar has been used for centuries in temple construction and is known for its pleasant fragrance and smoothness, helping to calm the mind and body. Kamiki Intense Wood is bottled at 48% ABV, without chill filtration or added coloring.
