A little-known distillery but highly regarded by enthusiasts, Ben Nevis has its roots in 1825, but it was only in 1996, after being acquired by the Japanese company Nikka, that the official releases of its single malts began consistently. This release is from 1996, purchased by a private collector and bottled in 2006, but it was never withdrawn from the warehouses. After eleven years, it was brought to Chorlton's attention, who tried it, purchased it, and bottled it under its own label.
The Highland 18 Years Old is a peated single malt Scotch whisky, aged for 18 years in a single refill barrel before being bottled at its natural strength (54% ABV), unchill filtered, and with its natural color in a total of 267 bottles.

Color: Pale gold.
Aroma: On the nose, it has a fruity yet dirty entry, typical of the distillery, with notes of baked apple, orange peel, toasted barley, caramel, and a slight hint of burnt flour and BBQ smoke.
Flavor: On the palate, it is more smoky than on the nose, with notes of lemon and grilled pineapple emerging initially, followed by molasses and smoked bacon, chili, ripe apple, and a slight hint of brine.
Finish: Of good persistence, it is characterized by the "dirty" notes of Ben Nevis, oily, with slightly medicinal peaty smoke, tar, salted licorice, lemon, and salted caramel.
