The Cardhu distillery was founded in 1824 by John and Helen Cumming under the name "Cardow," inspired by the name of their estate. The Cumming family, who were farmers by trade, are said to have been producing whisky illegally for over 10 years before obtaining an official license. Legend has it that Helen, John’s wife, sold jugs of illegal whisky directly from the kitchen window!
Aged for 18 years in carefully selected American oak casks, the Cardhu 18 Years Old unfolds like a flower to reveal a refined and elegant structure.
