Located along the northeast coast of the Isle of Islay, the Caol Ila distillery has always produced robust single malts with an intense yet velvety smokiness, a true dream for fans of peated whiskies. The Murray McDavid team has aged this powerful spirit in first-fill Madeira barrels sourced from the Justino winery, renowned producers of wine from the island of Madeira.
The “Benchmark” series from Murray McDavid is created specifically for whisky enthusiasts, focusing on classic, no-frills aging, where the malt is placed at the center of attention.
The Caol Ila 5 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2018 and aged for one year in ex-bourbon hogshead casks before maturing for an additional four years in first-fill ex-Madeira casks. It was bottled at 51.5% ABV, without cold filtration, and at its natural color in 1,803 bottles.
