The Caol Ila Distillery, founded in 1846, is located on the eastern coast of Islay, Scotland. It is renowned for its distinctive single malt whiskies, which combine elegant peat with marine and savory notes. With its picturesque location offering a spectacular view of the Sound of Islay, Caol Ila is one of the island's most iconic distilleries and a favorite among both whisky newcomers and seasoned connoisseurs.

The Caol Ila 12 Years Old is a peated single malt Scotch whisky distilled on October 6, 2010, and aged for 12 years exclusively in a single first-fill Premier Cru Classé wine barrique. This whisky was bottled on June 14, 2023, at its natural cask strength (56.9% vol.), unchill-filtered and with no added color.

Aroma: A bold burst of salty peat smoke, accompanied by intense minerality and maritime accents. Vibrant citrus notes follow, layered over a backdrop of ash and barbecue, with smoked plums and dark chocolate adding delightful complexity.

Taste: Surprisingly sweet and smooth at first, with hints of salted caramel and toffee balanced by a light oiliness. Smoked plums, raisins, and candied cherries emerge, complemented by notes of charcoal and burnt wood reminiscent of a roaring campfire.

Finish: Long and enveloping, with the return of peat smoke blending with dried fruit and caramel. The maritime character and minerality linger, leaving a warm, spicy memory on the lips.
