Founded in 1779 on the Scottish island of Islay, Bowmore Distillery is one of the oldest in all of Scotland. Its warehouse (Warehouse No. 1), just steps from Loch Indaal, is pure poetry for any lover of peated single malts.
The Bowmore 16 Years Old Ruby Port Cask Finish is a peated single malt Scotch whisky, initially matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, and then finished in ex-Ruby Port wine casks from the Douro region before being bottled at 43% ABV.

Color: Caramel amber.
Aroma: On the nose, the influence of the Port cask is immediately noticeable — raspberry and strawberry jam — followed by notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, and a gentle background hint of smoke.
Palate: Initially sweet on the palate, with notes of milk chocolate, brown sugar, and roasted hazelnuts. It then quickly evolves into more complex layers: black pepper with a herbal touch and the ever-present, gentle peat smoke. The palate finishes with hints of licorice and toasted oak.
Finale: Medium length, with lingering spicy notes, but also well-defined red fruits and vanilla, all wrapped in subtle maritime hints and the memory of extinguished embers with a final touch of winey richness.
