Blair Athol is a distillery founded in 1825, although it seems that it was actually established by John Stewart and Robert Robertson back in 1798, and only in '25 did it adopt its current name. The distillery is located at the gates of the town of Pitlochry, on the banks of the River Tay in the Perthshire region.
Blair Athol has always played the role of a distillery dedicated to producing whisky for blends, and its official single malt releases have been truly sporadic: in the '80s, an 8-year-old, in 2016, the 12-year-old from the Flora & Fauna series, and in 2017, the 23-year-old from the Special Releases, and that's about it.
Blair Athol 12 Years Old - Flora & Fauna is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled in 2003 and aged for 12 years in ex-sherry casks. The Flora & Fauna series was created by Diageo to allow enthusiasts to experience some of Scotland's lesser-known distilleries. We must say that, although not widely known, Blair Athol has certainly left its mark with only three historical bottlings.

Aroma: On the nose, it lingers with notes of cereal and toasted dried fruit, then opens up to notes of oranges, apple, and cinnamon with a slight hint of smoke.
Taste: The palate is full-bodied, with the sweetness of sherry blending with notes of licorice, citrus, and caramel, with hints of tea leaves and nuts.
Finish: Medium/long finish with notes of caramel, damp earth, nutmeg, and a light smoke that slightly dries the palate.
