BenRiach is located in the northern region of Speyside, Scotland. It was built in 1898 on the site of the Riach farm, sourcing water from the aquifer located directly beneath the distillery.
However, BenRiach had a tumultuous history. It operated for only two years before halting production due to a crisis in the Scottish whisky industry in 1900, remaining closed until 1965. Then, in 1972, BenRiach had a second chance when Glenlivet began producing peated malt under the name BenRiach, with the first release arriving in 1994. The distillery is currently part of the Brown-Forman portfolio.
The BenRiach Original 10 Years Old Three Wood is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for at least 10 years in three different types of oak casks: ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, and new (virgin) oak, before being bottled at a classic 43% ABV, without added colorants and without chill-filtration.

Aroma: The nose is initially delicate with notes of honey and vanilla, followed by apricot and melon, a touch of salted caramel, and a note of young wood.
Palate: The taste is sweet and enveloping, with an explosion of ripe fruit. Although sweet, it is well-balanced, the fruit notes blending with a slight flavor of croissant, cinnamon, coffee, and a light peat note that emerges gently in the background.
Finish: Medium persistence, with a light spiciness, barley malt, citrus, toasted hazelnut, vanilla, and a touch of apple and light peat.
