A lesser-known but highly cherished distillery among enthusiasts, Ben Nevis traces its roots back to 1825. However, it wasn't until 1996, after its acquisition by the Japanese company Nikka, that its official single malt releases became a regular occurrence. This particular release dates back to 1996 and was purchased by a private collector, then bottled in 2006 but never withdrawn from the warehouses. After eleven years, it was brought to the attention of Chorlton, who, after tasting it, decided to purchase and bottle it under their own label.
The Ben Nevis 17 Years Old is a lightly peated single malt Scotch whisky, aged for 17 years exclusively in a single ex-bourbon barrel, before being bottled in 2024 at 48.8% ABV, with no added color and non-chill filtered, in a limited release of 285 bottles.
