Beathan derives from the Gaelic word "beatha," meaning life, but this single malt bottled by Wilson & Morgan is quite a mystery. We don’t know which distillery produced it, but we have a few clues: first, it’s located in the southern Highlands, and second, it usually produces fruity and floral distillates. Third, here’s our own hint: it’s not a distillery close to the sea. Got it? We’ll give you one more small clue: the distillery’s name starts with the letter ‘G,’ and it also produces peated single malts.
Wilson & Morgan Beathan 2013 is a peated single malt Scotch whisky aged primarily in ex-bourbon casks before being finished for 15 months in second-fill ex-Oloroso sherry casks. This whisky is bottled at 46% ABV and at its natural color.

Color: Golden yellow.
Aroma: The earthy peat takes the lead, with notes of damp soil, then citrus, cinnamon, and raisins with hints of freshly cut green grass.
Palate: Wild and spicy, the sherry notes mellow out but not the peat. We get smoky oak, leather, ginger, black pepper, vanilla, and brown sugar with hints of caramel.
Finish: Good persistence, with peat almost enveloping us with its notes of mineral oil, wet earth, then vanilla, cloves, and citrus.
