Ballechin is a single malt produced by the Edradour distillery, one of the smallest and most traditional distilleries in Scotland, located in the Highlands near the town of Pitlochry. Ballechin represents Edradour’s peated whisky line (around 50ppm), in contrast to the distillery's typical unpeated production. The name Ballechin comes from a historic distillery in the Highlands that is now closed. Edradour revived the name to pay homage to the region's traditions.
Ballechin 15 Years Old SBCS (Batch #2) is a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky (around 50ppm), aged for at least 15 years in two types of casks: first-fill ex-bourbon and second-fill ex-Oloroso sherry, before being bottled at its natural cask strength (58.9% ABV), non-chill filtered, and at its natural color, with a total of 3,461 bottles produced.
