The new make of Balblair is quite unique, with a light wort, a long fermentation in wooden washbacks, and distillation in small pot stills that produces a distillate that is notably sulfurous and meaty. With aging, the sulfur note gradually fades, revealing fruity notes, while the meaty characteristic transforms into a sweet (toffee) one.
The Balblair 18 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky that is initially aged in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in first-fill Spanish oak ex-sherry casks. This single malt is bottled at 46% ABV, with no added colorants.
