Scotland is a land rich in peat. While the islands are famous for their abundance, peat can also be found throughout the Scottish Highlands, especially in the northern regions and west of Speyside. Peat bogs are typically located in remote, isolated areas where nature dominates the landscape, providing not only stunning scenery but also the valuable fuel that shapes our whisky.
Knockdhu Distillery, founded in 1894, is located in the western Highlands, surrounded by pure water sources, high-quality barley, and near a region rich in peat—peat that has, of course, been used in crafting this AnCnoc Peatheart.
The AnCnoc Peatheart is a peated single malt Scotch whisky with no age statement, matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled at 46% ABV. This whisky is made using malted barley with a high peat level of approximately 40ppm.
