The White Oak distillery, founded in 1888 by Eigashima Shuzo, produced classic sake until 1984 when it was expanded with the addition of pot stills for whisky production. The distillery's pot stills operate only for one month a year, so the amount of whisky produced is always very small.
The Akashi is an age unspecified blended whisky, created with single malts from the White Oak distillery, and for the European market, molasses has been replaced with grain whisky.
