Built by the Dewar family in 1898, the distillery is one of the last still active in Perthshire. The house style is focused on delivering a smooth whisky with honeyed notes. Its long fermentation time, about 70 hours, encourages the development of esters that, in turn, create fruity characteristics.
The Aberfeldy 20 Years Old Exceptional Cask is a single malt Scotch whisky distilled on April 27, 1998, and aged for 15 years in six ex-bourbon casks, followed by a further 5 years in first-fill ex-sherry casks. This whisky was finally bottled at a classic 43% ABV, with a total of 3,600 bottles produced.
